LAX Expects to Close Summer Travel Season with Record-Breaking Labor Day Weekend
(Los Angeles, CA) The traditional end of the busy summer travel season will bring with it an estimated 2.35 percent increase in the number of travelers over the five-day Labor Day weekend travel period compared to 2017 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAX officials expect 1,131,405 passengers to use the airport between Friday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 4 this year. LAWA Welcomes New LAFD Assistant Chief Elise Brodowy as Liaison to LAX and VNY Airports
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Battalion Chief Elise "Nikki" Brodowy was recently appointed as Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Liaison alongside her promotion to Assistant Chief. In her new role, Assistant Chief Brodowy will oversee all LAFD operations at Los Angeles International (LAX) and Van Nuys (VNY) general aviation airports, including emergency response and coordination between LAFD and other first responders operating at both airports. The Bay Foundation 5-Year Report on LAX Dunes 6-Acre Restoration Area Suggests a Healthy Dune Habitat
(Los Angeles, CA) After five years of restoration efforts by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), The Bay Foundation (TBF), and their partners, including Friends of the LAX Dunes (FOLD) and thousands of volunteers, the LAX Dunes Coastal Dunes Improvement Project (CDIP) area is a dramatically improved habitat with mostly native plants that supports an abundance of native and rare wildlife. As one of the largest coastal dune systems in Southern California, protection and restoration of the LAX Dunes is vital for regional conservation. A five-year post-restoration assessment conducted by TBF is summarized in a technical report called the Los Angeles International Airport Coastal Dunes Improvement Project Ecological Monitoring Report.Read More...
