Taxiway C Closure Between C9 & C10
(July 26, 2022 – Oct. 04, 2022)
Taxiway C between Taxilane C9 and Taxilane C10 (south of Terminal 4) will be closed continuously from July 26, 2022, until October 4, 2022 (est.) for the Taxiway C Pavement Reconstruction Project. This phase will include asphalt pavement demolition, construction of new concrete pavement, and installation of taxiway markings, signs and lighting. This closure will begin in the early morning hours of July 26 after the current closure (C between C9 and Gate 59).
 
Please expect the FAA Air Traffic Control Tower to provide alternate aircraft routing instructions around this closure for taxiing or towing aircraft. Vehicle and ground support equipment access to Terminals 4 and 5 will be maintained via alternate vehicle service roads (VSR).

Gate 153, 159 & 41 - Temporary Restrictions & Push Back Procedures:
  • Gate 153 and Gate 41 will be restricted to B787-8, B787-9, and A330-200 type aircraft and smaller due to the Taxiway C closure south of Terminal 4.
  • All aircraft pushing back from Gate 153 and Gate 41 will be required to push back tail north in Taxilane C10. There will be a temporary dashed white marking painted on the ground that the pushback should follow when pushing aircraft tail north into Taxilane C10. The aircraft should then be pulled forward onto the Taxilane C10 centerline.
  • Airlines and ground service providers pushing off gates 153 and 41 should be prepared to stop TBIT VSR traffic until the aircraft is fully established on the C10 centerline.
  • All aircraft pushing back from Gate 159 will be given push back instructions by LAX FAA Air Traffic Control Tower to push tail north in Taxilane C10 to Spot S1 (south end of Taxilane C10). FAA Air Traffic Control Tower will coordinate with American Airlines Ramp Tower for this push back instruction.
Gate 42A, 51B, 58, 59 & 69A - Temporary Push Back Procedures:
  • Gate 42A & Gate 51B:Aircraft pushing back from Gate 42A and Gate 51B will push tail south in Taxilane C9 and spin in the taxilane abeam closed Gate 46B so that the aircraft tail is north in Taxilane C9 on ramp control spot 2.
  • Gates 58, 59 & 69A:LAX FAA Air Traffic Control Towermayinstruct flight crews and tow crews requesting push from Gates 58, 59 and 69A to push back tail east onto Taxiway C south of Terminal 6 based on traffic volume and operational needs.
  • Gate 57:Gate 57 will be closed for the duration of this phase. Designated spaces for vendor deliveries and GSE parking have been coordinated directly with stakeholders.
