APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR FREE AVIATION CAREERS EDUCATION (ACE) ACADEMY IS FAST APPROACHING

(Van Nuys, CA) – June 14, 2022 – , (Van Nuys, Calif.) Van Nuys Airport (VNY) will host its annual Aviation Careers Education (ACE) Academy for middle and high school students from July 19-21. This free summer educational program is open to all middle school and high school students, with priority given to students who live in areas neighboring the airport. The deadline to apply is July 1, and applications are available on the VNY website.

“For young people interested in aviation, there is nothing more exciting than getting a first-hand look at aviation careers and learning directly from experienced individuals in the field, including pilots, mechanics, engineers and aviation professionals,” said Flora Margheritis, Airport Manager, VNY.

Twenty-five students will be selected to participate in the program based on their desire to learn about aviation as demonstrated through an essay. Applications are available online at iflyvny.com. The three-day motivational program is designed to educate students about airport operations at both VNY and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), as well as highlight career and technical opportunities in the aviation industry.

Students will begin each day at VNY's Public Observation Area before visiting selected locations across the airport's dynamic operations. Masks will be required.

ACE Academy is one the airport’s many educational outreach programs that benefit local residents. Interested students are encouraged to apply early. For application information, please click here or contact the VNY Public and Community Relations office at (818) 442-6526.
