LAWA LAUNCHES NEW 'LAX HOLIDAY SHUTTLE' TO SANTA MONICA AND CENTURY CITY, INCREASES SERVICE FOR THE FLYAWAY, GREEN LINE AND METRO SHUTTLES FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY
LAWA is also providing free transit rides from LAX to popular local destinations between Nov. 24 & Dec. 2

(Los Angeles, CA) Just in time for what is projected to be a record-breaking Thanksgiving holiday passenger levels, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is announcing new public transportation options and expanded service for guests going to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during the holiday season.

"This Thanksgiving holiday is projected to be the busiest on record, which means like last year, traffic will be bad during peak times, so our guests should know that they have many choices to access and leave LAX," said Deborah Flint, CEO, LAWA. "With our new LAX Holiday Shuttle, the expansion of our FlyAway service, an increase in buses that connect to public transit and free rides to many popular destinations in the region, we are providing more convenient and frequent choices for our guests who want to reduce their travel stress by opting for a public transportation option."

LAX HOLIDAY SHUTTLE -- DIRECT TO SANTA MONICA AND CENTURY CITY:
Starting this Sunday, Nov. 24 at 4 a.m., and continuing through the end of the day on Monday, Dec. 2, the LAX Holiday Shuttle will take guests directly between LAX and locations in Century City and Santa Monica. It will operate between 5 a.m. and midnight, and pickup and drop-off guests once per hour per location. At LAX, the holiday shuttle will pick up passengers from the dedicated bus lane on the inner curb of the lower/arrivals level at the "Pink" LAX Shuttle stops. At the Santa Monica and Century City locations, guests will find the shuttle stops at a parking lot, with a dedicated staff member to help them find and pay for their shuttle ride. The fare for a ride is $10 each way and a schedule for the service from each location will be shared on social media and at www.flylax.com.
  • Santa Monica: 1925 Arizona Ave., Santa Monica, CA
  • Century City: 2030 Century Park West, Century City, CA

FLYAWAY BUS SERVICE – INCREASED FREQUENCY TO ALL ROUTES:
Also during the busy Thanksgiving holidays, LAWA is increasing the frequency of FlyAway bus service during peak hours. The increase will nearly double the service to Hollywood and Long Beach while providing more buses per hour on the Van Nuys and Union Station routes during the busiest times of day, between Sunday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 3.

  • Van Nuys: Four buses per hour from Van Nuys to LAX from 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily; four buses per hour from LAX to Van Nuys from 11 a.m. to midnight daily. The Van Nuys route operates 24/7, with hourly service in the early morning hours (12-3 a.m.). This is doubling frequency during peak hours.
  • Union Station: Three buses per hour in each direction from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The Union Station route operates 24/7, with regular service every half hour except hourly in the early morning hours (1-5 a.m.). This is an addition of one trip per hour during peak periods.
  • Hollywood: Two buses per hour in each direction between noon and 9 p.m. daily. Buses operate from 1627 N. Vine St. in Hollywood to LAX starting at 5:15 a.m. until 9:15 p.m., and travel from LAX to Hollywood starting at 6:15 a.m. until 10:15 p.m., and will continue to operate hourly during non-peak times. This is a doubling of service during peak hours.
  • Long Beach: Two buses per hour in each direction between 12:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. daily. Buses operate from Shelter A at the Long Beach Travel Gallery on First Street to LAX starting at 5:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., and travel from LAX to Long Beach starting at 5:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., and will continue to operate hourly during non-peak times. This is a doubling of service during peak hours.

Fares range from $8 to $9.75 one way. Service from Union Station and Van Nuys is available 24 hours a day, with parking available at both locations. At LAX, the FlyAway buses pickup from the new dedicated inner lanes on the Lower/Arrivals Level. For more information on FlyAway, including a real-time bus tracker, visit www.LAXFlyAway.org

METRO GREEN LINE – ADDITIONAL BUSES & FREE RIDES
To meet potential demand for buses to public transit hubs, LAWA is adding two additional buses between LAX and the LAX/Aviation Green Line Station.

LAWA has also worked with Los Angeles Metro to offer free trips on the Green Line for LAX guests who ride the G Shuttle from the airport and board the Green Line at the Aviation Station. To receive your free trip, simply have your boarding pass showing that you flew into LAX that day available to share when you board the Green Line. These free rides will be offered between Sunday, November 24 and Monday, December 2.

LAX offers a free shuttle to and from the Aviation/LAX Metro Station, which is at Imperial Highway and Aviation Boulevard. The Green Line rail connects to the Silver Line (Bus Rapid Transit) and A Line (light rail, formerly the Blue Line) for service to downtown Los Angeles. LAX shuttle drivers may ask for proof of payment via a TAP card for guests heading to the airport. The "G Shuttle" can be found at the "Pink" LAX Shuttle stops on the Lower/Arrival Level.

To receive your free trip, simply have your boarding pass available to share when you board the Green Line after taking the G Shuttle to Aviation station.

CITY BUS CENTER & LOCAL TRANSIT AGENCIES -- MORE BUSES & FREE RIDES

To meet potential demand for buses to public transit hubs, LAWA is adding two additional buses between LAX and the LAX City Bus Center. LAWA is also sponsoring free rides from LAX connecting at the City Bus Center onto the following lines: all METRO buses, the Big Blue Bus, Torrance Transit and the Culver City bus. These free rides are only available to those who access the City Bus Center via the LAX shuttle and have a boarding pass from a flight that day. These free rides will be offered between Sunday, November 24 and Monday, December 2.

At the LAX City Bus Center, guests can connect with buses from LA Metro, Beach Cities Transit, Culver City, Santa Monica (Big Blue Bus) and Torrance, which operates from the LAX City Bus Center, located at 6111 W. 96th St. and connected to the Central Terminal Area by a free shuttle that can be found on the Lower/Arrivals Level at the "Pink" LAX Shuttle stops. Look for “Employee Lot South/LAX City Bus Center” as the buses’ destination.

WHY PUBLIC TRANSIT?

Due to construction, parking availability in the Central Terminal Area has been reduced and Economy Lot E is expected to fill up over the holidays as well. Guests are encouraged to consider private parking lots in the airport vicinity as well as alternate means of traveling to LAX, including municipal buses, light rail, and shared-ride vans.
