LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MAY PASSENGER VOLUME UP 3.47%

 

 (Ontario, California – June 26, 2015 Passenger activity at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) was up 3.47% in May. ONT airlines served 365,059 travelers compared to 352,828 travelers in May 2014.

 “We continue to see steady month over month increases when comparing this year and last year, which is very good news,” said Jess Romo, Airport Manager. “We hope to see stronger numbers in the coming months now that we are in the heavy summer travel season.”

  International traffic continues to grow with International carriers, AeroMexico and Volaris, serving 13,413 passengers, a 54.88% percent increase over May 2014. Both provide a total of 11 nonstop flights each week between ONT and Mexico.AeroMexico offers eight flights a week, four to Mexico City and four to Guadalajara. Volaris offers three flights a week to Guadalajara.  Volaris added a fourth weekly flight this month and will operate six and sometimes seven weekly flights in July and August to meet summer demand. 

 “Volaris’ additional flights this summer will help with the International traffic,” said Romo.  “Local response to our International offerings continues to be strong.”

ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. It is a medium-hub, full-service airport with direct commercial jet service to 15 major U.S. cities and connecting service to many domestic and international destinations.
