LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT POWER OUTAGE

LA/Ontario International Airport Power Outage

(Ontario, California – September 16, 2015) At about 12:15 this morning, LA Ontario International Airport (ONT) experienced a power outage at some of its facilities, including passenger Terminals Two and Four.

Emergency generators immediately began supplying limited power to critical airport systems. ONT maintenance staff, working with Southern California Edison, began working to restore full power and determine the cause of the outage.

At this time, limited power has been restored to Terminals Two and Four, and ONT Operations staff are working with the airlines to help process passengers for departing flights.  However, airlines have announced cancellations and delays. While some flights are arriving at ONT, departing passengers should continue to check directly with their airlines throughout the day and into the evening for the most updated information on the status of their flights, and are strongly encouraged to print boarding passes and or download to their cell phones before arriving to the airport.

Passengers in the terminals are being given water by ONT staff and concessions at the airport are operating whenever able, in a limited capacity.

ONT maintenance staff will continue to work to fully restore power to the airport.  There is no estimated time as to when that may occur.

ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. It is a medium-hub, full-service airport with direct commercial jet service to 15 major U.S. cities and connecting service to many domestic and international destinations. There are approximately 62 daily departures offered by 8 air carriers.
