LA/Ontario International Airport Hosts 7th Annual "Pull for Our Heroes" Plane Pull Competition Benefitting Bob Hope USO Ontario

 

            (Ontario, California October 21, 2015) – LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) will host its 7th Annual “Pull for Our Heroes” Plane Pull competition on Saturday, Oct. 24, at ONT.

            Co-hosted by the Friends of Ontario Airport, the Plane Pull is a fun and competitive tug-of-war exercise pitting teams of men and women against a 120,000 lb. 727 aircraft.  Each team of 20 will have two attempts to pull the 727 a distance of 25 feet.  The winners will receive bragging rights and awards for Fastest Pull, Slowest Pull, Most Creative Team Name and Top Fundraising Team.

“This is an exciting event for ONT and is our biggest fundraiser for our local USO, terminal volunteers, and educational programs,” said Jess Romo, Airport Manager. “We sincerely appreciate the backing and resources given to us to continue this unique event, and we thank our community partners." 

Organizations supporting the Plane Pull include the Ontario Police Officers Association, Airport Terminal Services, Ontario High School Jazz Band, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, Los Angeles World Airports Police Honor Guard and Cadets, PepsiCo, LSG SkyChefs, Frito Lay, Sam’s Club, Delaware North, Fontana Police Officers Association Cadets and Premier Action Group.

Teams participating are Bob Hope USO Ontario sponsored by Pasadena Firefighters Local 809, Kaiser Permanente, United Parcel Service, SuperShuttle, City of Ontario, Pepsi Beverages Company, and Farrell’s Restaurants.

The day also features a variety of exhibitor booths: Nutrition Zone, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 47, Corona Family Dentistry, Inland Empire United Way, Chick-fil-A Ontario Mills Parkway, Pet Prescription Team, Origami Owl, Dignity Memorial, LAX Community Relations, Justice Crusaders, Perfectly Posh, SuperShuttle, Baldy View ROP, Farmers Insurance Group, SkyOne Federal Credit Union, Bay Alarm Company, Arrowhead Credit Union, First Responders Insurance Services, Sowing Seeds for Life, Associated Physicians, US Bank, KCAA 1050 AM Radio.
