A Message from the Airport Manager

Greetings, and Happy New Year!

2017 has flown by, and VNY is cleared for take-off into 2018. We are excited for new opportunities and improvements this year, and continue to employ an optimistic outlook for aviation and the economy.

With the closing of 2017, VNY was yet again in a position indicative of positive growth. Operations have increased as compared to 2016, with an annual total of more than 231,000. Fuel sales have also continued to rise. These figures contribute a strong, direct boost to our regional market and ensure that our community continues to see the benefits of having VNY as a committed neighbor and a community asset.

In 2018, VNY is also looking toward substantial capital improvements, ongoing facility development and a continued approach to sustainable business and responsible stewardship. Preliminary mobilization for the rehabilitation of Taxiways Alpha and Bravo is slated for the fourth quarter of 2018, and will provide significant upgrades to our existing facilities. The Board of Airport Commissioners cleared the environmental path for the $45 million development of the new Jet Aviation facility. Plans to implement a green energy project at Western Jet Aviation are also underway. Around the airport, we hope to have all of our FBO businesses green certified by the end of 2018. And this is just a glimpse of airport potential.

With these projects, and so many others to be implemented this year, VNY remains dedicated to sustaining strong and viable business, delivering safe and exceptional facilities, supporting positive growth and continued collaboration with our tenants and community. Enriching the quality of the airport experience for our users, operators, stakeholders and community members remains a top priority. As a Gold-Standard Airport, VNY delivers – in 2018, and beyond!
