Diego Alvarez, Deputy Executive Director of Capital Planning, Oversight, Management, and Analytics

As Deputy Executive Director of Capital Planning, Oversight, Management, and Analytics, Diego Alvarez will oversee the Airport Development Group’s Standards, Controls, Oversight, Risk and Estimating (SCORE) and Third-Party Teams, to support LAWA’s objective in efficiently planning, implementing, and delivering our multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program (CIP). He will also direct the integration of infrastructure databases and development of dashboards and other key decision-making tools to ensure transparency and effective oversight of the CIP. Diego will report directly to the Chief Airport Development Officer, and assist in planning, crafting, guiding, and executing LAWA’s vision of world-class airports for passengers, tenants, employees, and stakeholders at LAX and VNY.
Diego has more than 15 years of experience with LAWA, holding leadership roles with our Capital Improvement Program, the Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP), and resolving key entitlement issues related to the LAX Master Plan. Prior to joining LAWA, he served as a Deputy Mayor for Intergovernmental Affairs for the City of Los Angeles, and worked in the offices of Mayors Antonio Villaraigosa, James Hahn, and Richard Riordan, as well as in the Chief Legislative Analyst’s Office.
Diego’s extensive background in governance and decision-making, coupled with his deep understanding of LAWA’s capital planning and delivery systems, positions him perfectly to lead our CIP teams to new heights. His strategic vision and expertise in data-driven decision-making will be crucial in advancing LAWA’s projects, ensuring that LAX and VNY continuously meet the highest standards.
