Patio Club

December 7 & 8

Terminal 1

Patio Club is the pandemic-formed rock and soul project led by LA’s Dustbowl Revival frontman Z. Lupetin. With no way to tour or share new songs during lockdowns, the prolific Lupetin brought together a talented group of friends including singer Lashon Halley, guitarist Chad Richard and bass-player Nick Phakpiseth to play in the only place live music was allowed—his tiny backyard.

Centered around Halley and Lupetin’s fiery harmonies, the group was inspired by the kinetic protests and rallies they attended in 2020. Dozens of soulful and pointed songs flowed from the secret jam sessions held on Lupetin’s patio each Friday (the cops were only called once), resulting in a forthcoming EP recorded at the legendary Sound Factory studio in Hollywood—where Marvin Gaye laid down “What’s Going On”.

As restrictions lifted, the band began playing across Southern California, sometimes adding drums and organ, and the informal meet-up they jokingly called their Patio Club became official. And the sound? Think The Black Keys meets The Alabama Shakes with a side of Wilco and the Civil Wars.
