Artist: Susan Logoreci

Terminal 1, Baggage Claim, pre-security

Susan Logoreci’s drawings of urbanscapes combine geometric and abstract patterns with aerial views of dense neighborhoods and cityscapes of Los Angeles. Inspiration for these patterns is found within Art Deco patterns on downtown Los Angeles buildings, op art patterns, as well as seismic and zoning maps. These design elements warp, stretch, squeeze and surround streets and buildings.

These drawings are meticulously made through a meditative process using hundreds of colored pencils. This methodical approach mirrors how our built spaces are crafted and carefully planned over a long period of time, while also allowing opportunity for the unpredictable. The quilt-like aesthetic of these drawings depict the humanity of our communities and connections to each other, seen and unseen.

Susan Logoreci’s artworks have been seen in Art in America, the Los Angeles Times and Harper's Magazine as well as many other periodicals. Logoreci has drawings in several collections including the U.S. State Department, City National Bank, Creative Artist's Agency, Hilton and Marriott Hotels, and in several law firms and urban design rms. She has completed public art commissions for the Los Angeles Metro on the Expo Line and at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA. She has lived and worked in Los Angeles for 20 years.
