LANDSCAPING, INTERIOR WORK PLANNED AS AIRPORT POLICE FACILITY NEARS COMPLETION

Activity:

Construction continues on the Airport Police Facility headquarters building, parking structure, and the 12-foot paseo along Westchester Parkway. The headquarters building is expected to be completed later this summer.

 

Dates:

July – August 2021

 

Work Hours:

Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
No Sunday or holiday work (including Monday, July 5)
Construction schedules are subject to change.

 

Where:

The site of the LAX Airport Police Facility at the northeast corner of Westchester Parkway and Loyola Boulevard.

 

Work Description:

Site work will include landscape and hardscape installation, concrete planters, walkways, and stairs. Also, grading for the visitor parking lot, followed by asphalt paving for the parking and the all other roadways on site. In-street utility work should be wrapping up by August. In the building, work includes completion of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, furniture installation, painting, final cleaning and inspection of rooms/punch list items.​ Startup, testing, and commissioning of all systems, including mechanical, electrical and information technology systems, is also planned. Please be advised that the asphalt work will involve truck delivery, rollers and compaction. Vibration from heavy equipment, including backup alarms (safety beepers on the heavy equipment), may be experienced during the work activities.

  • Fork lifts
  • Dump/haul trucks
  • Concrete trucks
  • Concrete pump trucks
  • Cranes

 

Advisories/Mitigation Measures :

  • Dust control
  • Use of watering trucks and street sweepers
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Erosion Control Plan compliance
  • Noise will be monitored to be sure that work performed is within compliance
  • The public is not allowed to enter the construction work zone

 

Traffic Impacts :

Trucks will occasionally interrupt traffic as they enter and exit the site; however, traffic control measures will be used to safely direct drivers to minimize traffic disruptions. Crews may also occasionally work in the street on Loyola Boulevard, Westchester Parkway and 94th Street. Please obey all posted parking restriction signs and construction signs.
