PROGRESS CONTINUES ON AIRPORT POLICE HEADQUARTERS, PARKING STRUCTURE

Activity:

Construction continues on the Airport Police Facility headquarters building and parking structure. The headquarters building is expected to be completed in summer 2021.

 

Dates:

January – February 2021

 

Work Hours:

Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
No Sunday or holiday work
Construction schedules are subject to change.

 

Where:

The future site of the LAX Airport Police Facility located at the northeast corner of Westchester Parkway and Loyola Boulevard.

 

Work Description:

Activities for the coming weeks at the headquarters building include wrapping up the installation of the exterior glass curtain walls and the roofing system. HVAC mechanical equipment has been placed on the roof, and electrical connections are in progress. Inside the building, interior walls are receiving drywall and paint in many locations. Building mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems installations continue. Site work in progress includes the construction of the perimeter road on the east and north sides. Upcoming street work will involve the construction of a new main driveway entrance on Loyola Boulevard, rebuilding intersection ADA ramps, and constructing a new sidewalk on the south side of 94th Street at the back entrance. Site grading, concrete retaining walls and underground site utilities in Loyola Boulevard, Westchester Parkway, and 94th Street are in progress. In the parking structure, the contractor is preparing for striping the parking stalls and installing directional signage.

  • Backhoe loaders
  • Fork lifts
  • Dump/haul trucks
  • Concrete trucks
  • Concrete pump trucks
  • Cranes

 

Advisories/Mitigation Measures :

  • Dust control
  • Use of watering trucks and street sweepers
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Erosion Control Plan compliance
  • Noise will be monitored to be sure that work performed is within compliance
  • The public is not allowed to enter the construction work zone

 

Traffic Impacts :

Trucks will occasionally interrupt traffic as they enter and exit the site; however, traffic control measures will be used to safely direct drivers to minimize traffic disruptions. Crews may also occasionally work in the street on Loyola Boulevard, Westchester Parkway and 94th Street. Please obey all posted parking restriction signs and construction signs.
