SOIL REMOVAL AND GRADING ON LAX AIRPORT POLICE FACILITY SITE

Activity:
In preparation for the LAX Airport Police Facility, work crews will be conducting construction activities that will consist of onsite temporary/permanent power installation, soil removal and grading within the project site. The work is being managed and performed by Hensel Phelps and its subcontractors.


Dates:
September-October 2019

WORK HOURS:
Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. (soil hauling 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (soil hauling 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
No Sunday or holiday work
Construction schedules are subject to change for various reasons including but not limited to: weather conditions, unforeseen emergencies and other acts of nature.

WHERE:
The future site of the LAX Airport Police Facility located at the northeast corner of Westchester Parkway and Loyola Boulevard.

WORK DESCRIPTION:
Construction crews will be conducting clearing, grubbing, soil removal and grading within the project site. Soil removal and grading activities will include the use of:

  • Excavators
  • Compaction rollers
  • Front end loaders
  • Back hoe loaders
  • Dump/haul trucks

ADVISORIES/MITIGATION MEASURES:

  • Dust control
  • Use of watering trucks and street sweepers
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Erosion Control Plan compliance
  • Noise will be monitored to be sure that work performed is within compliance
  • Do not enter the construction work zone

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Trucks used to haul away debris will occasionally interrupt traffic as they enter and exit the site; however, traffic control measures will be used to safely direct drivers to minimize traffic disruptions. Please obey all posted parking restriction signs and construction signs.

UTILITY WORK BY LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND POWER:
Additionally, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is working adjacent to the site, and is scheduled to close one lane on westbound Westchester Parkway during daytime work hours through Sept. 20, and is scheduled to close one lane on Loyola Boulevard the week of Sept. 23.
