LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE LAUNCHES SOCIAL MEDIA TWITTER ACCOUNT @LAXPD_ALERTS

(Los Angeles, California – September 9, 2013) Los Angeles Airport Police (LAXPD) today officially launched its new Twitter Account @LAXPD_ALERTS. The account has been established to efficiently and effectively provide information to the public regarding LAXPD incident alerts and division news. The use of Twitter, a great social media resource, is intended to provide the travelling public and surrounding communities with real time information. Followers of @LAXPD_Alerts will find up-to-date information regarding unexpected traffic congestion, airport incidents, road closures, and news worthy Airport Police news and highlights.

Los Angeles Airport Police Chief Patrick Gannon said, “this is a great social media vehicle that will provide us the opportunity to connect with the aviation community and give the travelling public a resource for obtaining information“.

While the LAXPD_ALERTS Twitter Account will provide real time information during a major incident, the LAX Twitter Account @LAX_Official, will be the official source of information for Los Angeles International Airport. People are encouraged to follow both accounts. To report an emergency the public should call 911.

The Los Angeles Airport Police Division is the nation's premier aviation law enforcement agency with over 1,100 specially trained police officers, security officers, and civilian staff protecting Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT), and Van Nuys (VNY) airports.
