LAWA'S CONTRACTING MODEL SETS INCLUSIVITY RECORDS
(Los Angeles) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)’s latest Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC), representing nearly $1 billion in contracting value, received approval from Los Angeles City Council on April 26, 2024. The Council’s endorsement follows earlier consent from the City of Los Angeles’s Travel, Trade and Tourism Committee and LAWA’s Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC). The occasion marks a groundbreaking moment for LAWA and its dedication to creating new and lasting economic pathways for local, diverse, veteran, small and micro businesses with a historic number of first time and new-to-LAWA participants.

(Los Angeles) Yesterday, Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA)’s HireLAX Apprenticeship Readiness Program celebrated the graduation of its 425th pre-apprentice and 19th cohort. The milestone follows the initiative's receipt of $1 million of federal grant money in the summer of 2023, presented by Congresswoman Maxine Waters. With a mission of maximizing the positive local economic impact of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)’s multimillion-dollar transformation, HireLAX provides free training, career opportunities and ongoing mentorship for individuals from the airport’s surrounding communities.
