HOLIDAY CHEER ARRIVES AT LAX, KICKS OFF WITH 'SOUNDS OF THE SEASON' PERFORMANCES
(Los Angeles, CA) During the holiday season, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is spreading joyful cheer with a variety of festive events to entertain airport guests.

"December is a very special time when families and friends come together to celebrate the winter holidays," said Barbara Yamamoto, Director of Guest Experience and Innovation, LAWA. "There's already an atmosphere of excitement for the holidays in the air, as airlines decorate the terminals and airport staff gear up for the holiday rush. With so many guests coming our way over the next few weeks, we are creating festive experiences that will energize and entertain our guests as they wait for flights or arrive in the city of Los Angeles."

LAX's Sounds of the Season performance series will kick off the winter holiday travel period, with nine musical acts and groups performing at various terminals and the LAX-it pick-up lot throughout December. The schedule includes 90-year-old Navy and World War II veteran Nick King, the Long Beach City College Caroling Group, the Guitars Antiqua Children's Music Program, the Loyola S.T.A.R. African Drum and Dance Ensemble and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Choir.

Sounds of the Season will begin performances on Monday, Dec. 16, with Genesis the Balm, which will be performing at Tom Bradley International Terminal from 7-8 p.m. A complete list of activities, including all upcoming Sounds of the Seasons performances, is below.

Extra Help at the Terminals
Helpful LAX staff will be out in the terminals as part of LAX's Team of LAXceptional Courtesy (T.L.C.) Program on Dec. 20 and Dec. 23 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. T.L.C volunteers wear white and blue LAX scarves and help guests navigate through the airport. Additionally, more than 30 iCARE Crew members, which are managed by LAWA's Guest Services Division through a partnership with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board, will be deployed in areas with the most construction impacts to assist travelers on their journey.

Joyful Activities and Selfie Stations, Too

For those traveling with children, on Friday, Dec. 20, LAX employees will host "Holiday Hangar" arts and crafts time at the Tom Bradley International Terminal Children's Playground from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People of all ages will also be able to spend time with "Santa PAWS" featuring the famous LAX Pets Unstressing Passengers (PUP) Program therapy dogs, which will be onsite for the event. In addition, the PUPs volunteers will lead a holiday book reading for children during storytelling time on Dec. 19 in Terminal 7 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Los Angeles Airport Police officers, spouses and family members will hand out teddy bears, candy canes and tree ornaments to children traveling through LAX on Dec. 25 at various locations.

Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield's airport group will also bring holiday selfie stations to Barney's Beanery (Terminal 2) and LA Original (Terminal 1) (post-security) so that guests can have an instant keepsake of their time at LAX from now until Jan. 10.

Spark of Love Donation Box at LAX
Once again this year, the Los Angeles Fire Department is partnering with KABC-7 to collect new and unwrapped toys and sports equipment during the annual "Spark of Love" Drive. A collection box is available at the first-aid station at Tom Bradley International Terminal (upper level, south side) through Dec. 24. The first-aid station is located pre-security and is open daily from noon to 10 p.m., with additional hours on Wednesdays from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Festive Decor & Lights at LAX
In addition to the festive decorations on LAX-iconic signs at and near various entrances of the airport and poinsettias at all information desks at the terminals, the LAX iconic LAX pylons will also be uniquely lit during the month of December. The pylons will be lighted blue and white in celebration of Hanukah from Dec. 22-23. The color of the pylons will change to green and red on Dec. 24-25, in celebration of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and then again on Dec. 28 in celebration of Kwanzaa. Finally, as we await to start a new decade on New Year's Eve, the pylons will be illuminated gold and white from sunset on Dec. 31 to sunrise on Jan. 1, 2020.

Holiday Shopping Savings at LAX
Tis the season to shop for the holidays and LAX has some deals for its guests.
