(Los Angeles, CA) Throughout the month of May, which is Foster Care Awareness Month, hundreds of thousands of travelers logging on to Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) free Wi-Fi service will be greeted with FosterMore’s "Because You Were There" video, which shares the gratitude of former foster youth whose lives were changed for the better by community members, who stepped up to provide invaluable support for them during a challenging time. Additionally, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will illuminate its iconic gateway pylons at the airport’s entrance in “blue” to kick off the month of activities.

“At LAX, we are honored to be part of FosterMore’s efforts to highlight the impact a foster parent can have on a child through their beautiful video, “Because You Were There,” which will be shared across our free Wi-Fi networks,” said Trevor Daley, Deputy Executive Director for External Affairs, LAWA. “Angelenos are incredibly caring people and the airport recognizes all those who have chosen to open their homes and their hearts to foster children, as parents, mentors, teachers, social workers, or friends.”

“We are grateful to the Los Angeles World Airports for their leadership in our community and for helping foster youth reach their potential,” said David Ambroz, FosterMore co-Founder. “FosterMore strives to showcase the potential of foster youth and encourage others to take action on their behalf. By becoming a mentor, foster parent or simply contributing to FosterMore’s scholarship fund, anyone can play an important part in the success of a young person.”

With more than 28,000 foster youth in Los Angeles County, our community has a tremendous need for individuals and families to open their homes and their hearts to young people facing a difficult time. Foster parents serve as the anchor in a team social workers and specialists dedicated to helping children and families thrive. In recognition of the tremendous contributions made by foster families in Los Angeles County, Foster Care Counts will host the 10th Annual Foster Mother’s Day celebration at The Willows Community School in Culver City on Mother’s Day, May 13th. The fun-filled day includes carnival games and activities for kids, food provided by Wolfgang Puck Catering, spa treatments for moms by Paul Mitchell, and much rel="noopener noreferrer" more.
