SANTA SPREADS HOLIDAY CHEER AT LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 

      

            (Van Nuys, CA)- More than 500 students at Van Nuys’ Gault Street Elementary School enjoyed aspecial treat today when Santa arrivedby fire engine to extend holiday greetings to the children. The event, an annual celebration sponsored by Van Nuys Airport’s Adopt-A-School program, featured holiday gifts, live entertainment and some very recognizable mascots.

            “This festivity is part of our award-winning educational program, which helps to expose kids to aviation,” said Van Nuys Airport Manager Selena Birk. “We also conduct airport tours, and for those of all ages unable to come to us, we offer visits by our ‘airport on wheels’ and/or traveling slide show programs about Van Nuys Airport.”  

With a generous supply of presents and accompanied by a lively ground crew that included Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, Santa arrived on the school playground by way of an antique fire truck courtesy of the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum. Each participating student received a colorfulbackpack for carrying books and school supplies. Prior to Santa’s arrival, the program also featured a lively parrot show with an explorer theme, presented by Parrot Tales Entertainment.   

            All children were entered into a drawing for prizes of gift certificates and tickets donated by local businesses and attractions including Big 5 Sporting Goods, Glendale Center Theatre, In-N-Out Burger, Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Millie’s Restaurant, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, ShermanOaksCastlePark and Souplantation Restaurant
