PARKING REDUCED DURING FLYAWAY BUS TERMINAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

(Van Nuys, CA)- A project to improve the Van Nuys FlyAway Bus Terminal, which provides nonstop bus service to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), has reduced the facility’s long-term parking capacity during construction. As a result, the long-term parking lot’s capacity is being reduced from just over 2,000 spaces to approximately 800 spaces for an estimated 15 to 18 months.

“The good news is that FlyAway bus service and schedules will remain intact during construction,” said Van Nuys Airport Manager Selena Birk. “However, we recommend travelers arrange to be dropped off at the terminal whenever possible.”

During construction, a temporary drop-off site has been established directly across from the terminal at the northwest corner of Woodley Avenue and Saticoy Street. Traffic patterns around the facility will also change. Temporarily, the parking lot’s entrance is shifting to Saticoy Street on the south side of the facility, with the exit moving to Gloria Avenue on the east perimeter.

The new facility is a significant investment in Van Nuys. The terminal will be a spacious, modern building offering passengers a pleasant and attractive atmosphere in which to wait, enhanced by more amenities such as a community meeting room, ATMs, larger restrooms, new concession stands, improved landscaping and more short-term and long-term parking spaces than the original facility.

Since its inauguration in 1975, the Van Nuys FlyAway Bus Terminal has provided convenient, low-cost bus service to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Carrying more than 16 million passengers since its inception, FlyAway buses currently make about 100 trips daily that transport nearly 2,100 passengers to and from LAX – a service that reduces traffic congestion by eliminating the presence of 2,000 cars on the region’s roads and freeways every day.
