VAN NUYS FLYAWAY OFFERS LABOR DAY TIPS FOR VALLEY TRAVELERS

(Van Nuys, CA)- Labor Day travelers planning to use the Van Nuys FlyAway bus service as a convenient transportation option from the San Fernando Valley to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are encouraged to make drop-off arrangements instead of parking at the facility’s lot. Parking capacity at the terminal has been reduced by over 50 percent because of an ongoing project to improve the terminal.

“Plan ahead is our advice to travelers, because the bus terminal is a popular location during this long weekend,” said Van Nuys Airport Manager Selena B. Birk. “Fortunately, FlyAway bus service and schedules will remain intact during project construction, but we recommend travelers arrange to be dropped off at the terminal whenever possible.” During construction, a temporary drop-off site has been established across from the terminal at the northwest corner of Woodley Avenue and Saticoy Street.

Travelers are advised to consider the following recommendations when using the FlyAway:

·         To avoid being late for flights, travelers should arrange to be dropped off at the FlyAway terminal.

·         The maximum time limit of 15 days will be strictly enforced for vehicles parked in the lot.

·        Travelers are strongly advised to call the FlyAway’s recorded information line at (818) 994-5554 to find out if the lot is full before coming to the terminal.

Parking and other inconveniences resulting from the FlyAway Improvement Project are only temporary. The final result will be a greatly enhanced and attractive terminal with more amenities, such as a community meeting room, ATMs, larger restrooms, new concession stands, improved landscaping and more short-term and long-term parking spaces than the original facility.

The Van Nuys FlyAway bus terminal, located at 7610 Woodley Ave. at Saticoy Street,

provides fast, scheduled transportation from Van Nuys to LAX. Roundtrip fares are $6 for adults

(ages 13 and up) and $3.50 for children (ages two through 12). Children under age two are free. Parking, if available, is $4 per day. For more information, call (818) 994-5554.
