FLYAWAY BUS SERVICE EXPECTS HIGH-VOLUME ACTIVITY FOR LABOR DAY
Travelers Are Encouraged to Plan Ahead

With Labor Day as the summer’s busiest holiday weekend, increased numbers of travelers are expected to use the FlyAway bus service as a low-cost, convenient transportation option from the San Fernando Valley to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

"Plan ahead is our advice to travelers, because the bus terminal is a popular location during this three-day period," said Van Nuys Airport Manager Selena B. Birk. "The parking lot at the FlyAway could fill to capacity as early as this Wednesday or Thursday."

To avoid delays and traffic congestion, travelers should observe these suggestions:

  • If possible, arrange to be dropped off at the terminal.
  • For those drivers using the parking lot, use it as few days as possible to free up spaces for others. The parking fee is $1 per day, and starting Oct. 2, 2000, it will increase to $2 per day. The maximum time limit for parked vehicles in the lot is 15 days. Call (818) 994-5554 to find out if the lot is full. Recorded parking information will be updated regularly.
  • Allow extra time for possible delays due to traffic congestion and baggage check-in at LAX.
  • There is no reserve seating on the bus.

The Van Nuys FlyAway bus terminal, located at 7610 Woodley Ave. at Saticoy Street, provides fast, scheduled transportation from Van Nuys to LAX. Roundtrip fares are $6 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $3.50 for children (ages two through 12). Children under age two are free. For more information, call (818) 994-5554.
