VAN NUYS AIRPORT’S CITIZENS ADVISORY COUNCIL ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT

(Van Nuys, CA)- Members of the Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) for Van Nuys Airport recently elected Coby King as their new president for a one-year term, replacing Sandor Winger. Third District Councilmember Laura Chick appointed King to the CAC in August 1998.

King is the owner of Coby King Communications, a public affairs counseling firm in downtown Los Angeles. He also has a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and practices election and government law for the law firm of Smith Kaufman. Prior to forming Coby King Communications in 1999, he worked for two other prominent law firms in the area and was a vice president of a communications firm, Rogers and Associates, in Century City.

Among his many community activities, King currently serves as an alternate member of the San Fernando Valley Transportation Zone Interim Joint Powers Agency Board, which is examining the benefits and financial feasibility of a separate transportation zone for the Valley.

The Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) established the CAC in 1985 to facilitate and promote closer, more direct interaction between airport management and community representatives regarding airport issues. The 18-member council serves in an advisory capacity to the BOAC. Three are appointed by the mayor, three by the BOAC and two each by Councilmembers Hal Bernson, Laura Chick, Mike Feuer, Cindy Miscikowski, Alex Padilla and Joel Wachs. Meetings are open to the public and held at Van Nuys’ Airtel Plaza Hotel on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.
