Aviation Career Day (ACD) Is a Big Success, Attracting More than 1,400 Students
On May 2, 2014, VNY hosted the ninth annual The Sky’s The Limit: Aviation Career Day, enticing 1,400 local students to come and tour the airport, view unique exhibits, and learn more about potential careers. The event was co-hosted by MP Aero, Los Angeles City Councilmember Nury Martinez, and The Valley Economic Council.
Some of the most popular exhibits and displays included two U.S Navy F-18 Fighter Jets, two Condor Squadron’s AT-6 aircraft, the Los Angeles Fire Department Air Rescue Unit, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and VNY tenants including Clay Lacy, TWC and Signature Flight Support.
Judging from the response of both students and community leaders, the event was a success. “I’m proud to see so many enthusiastic young people interested in Aviation Career Day,” said Los Angeles City Councilmember Nury Martinez (CD-6). VNY Manager Jess Romo added, “Educational opportunities like today’s event allow our youth to explore the many career options available to them."
Next year, we will be celebrating the tenth annual The Sky’s The Limit: Aviation Career Day. For more information, contact the VNY Public and Community Relations office at 818-442-6526.
