ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT NEW PARKING RATES TO TAKE EFFECT JANUARY 10, 2005

Ontario, California (January 5, 2005) – Ontario International Airport (ONT) will have new parking rates starting January 10, 2005. Travelers will notice more pricing options with daily parking rates ranging at $6, $7, $11 and $15. The new rates include a combination of price increases and decreases but remain significantly low compared to other airports in California.

“ONT’s parking rates are being restructured to increase airport revenues and consequently lower terminal rental rates, which will provide an incentive to expand current airline service and attract new ones,” said Jens Rivera, airport manager. “The new rates will also help reduce confusion among parking customers between the two-hour parking areas and overnight parking lots, offer an economical hourly rate for short-term parking users to reduce traffic congestion in front of the terminals, and encourage travelers to use Lot 5, which recently opened and is one of the most convenient parking lots at the airport.”

Rates at Lots 2 and 4 will change from $12 to $15 a day, with a rate of $2 per hour for the first seven hours and $1 for the eighth hour, until the $15 daily maximum is reached. These new rates will make reasonably priced parking available in front of the terminals for airport visitors who need to drop off or pick up passengers within a short time period.

“The short-term, two-hour limit parking spaces in Lots 2 and 4 will be re-integrated to the long-term lots but travelers can still park in these spaces without the previous $24 additional overtime fee if the two-hour limit is extended,” said Rivera.

Rates at Lot 3 will change from $9 to $11 daily, with a rate of $2 per hour for the first five hours and $1 for the sixth hour, until the $11 daily maximum is reached. Rates at Lot 5 will decrease from $9 to $7 a day with a rate of $2 per hour for the first three hours and $1 for the fourth hour, until the $7 daily maximum is reached.

“Lot 5, which is a relatively new lot, is still the airport’s best parking lot option,” added Rivera. “It is within walking distance to Terminal 4 and free shuttle service is available 24 hours a day, every 10 to 12 minutes, from the lot to the terminals and back.”

Lot F will remain at $6 daily maximum with the first two hours free of charge. However, the rates changed from $3 to $2 per hour for the third, fourth and fifth hour. Free shuttle service to and from the terminals is available every 10 to 12 minutes.

Oversize vehicles will no longer be able to park at the airport’s parking lots. Oversize vehicles are vehicles that occupy more than one parking stall. These include large trucks, trucks with attached trailers, tractors, campers and recreational vehicles.

Travelers and meeter/greeters can visit ONT’s website at www.lawa.org for detailed airport parking information. The site provides an airport map, parking rates and driving directions to each of the on-airport parking lots.

ONT is located approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The airport is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports, a Los Angeles City department which also owns and operates Los Angeles International, Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys Airports.
