Emergency Notifications

There are a variety of ways that the Los Angeles World Airports can communicate with you in an emergency. In addition to sending urgent notifications about emergencies through LAWA Alerts, the following systems will be used:

Nixle— This system enables LAWA to text information about an imminent threat in or around LAX and communicate instructions for the public to follow. To enroll, text “LAXEMERGENCY” to 888777. There is no charge for this service but message and data rates may apply.

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) - This system allows LAWA to send an alert to compatible mobile devices in or around LAX and does not require a subscription. To learn more about WEA, please see FEMA’s program FAQ at this link.

Follow Us On Social Media

LAWA utilizes a variety of social media platforms to share information with the public.

Twitter Icon   @flyLAXAirport—The official Twitter of LAX
@LAAirportPD—The official Twitter page for the Los Angeles Airport Police

Please note, these accounts are not monitored 24/7. It is not advisable to rely on social media as your primary method of notification of an emergency.
