NATIONAL POLICE WEEK

(Los Angeles, California – May 18, 2015) Los Angeles Airport Police Officers Michael Dear and Sofia Gallegos took part in this year’s Police Unity Tour. They left Northern New Jersey on May 9th and arrived in Washington, DC on May 12th.

The purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty and honor their sacrifices. Officer Dear and Gallegos rode in memory of our own fallen Los Angeles Airport Police Officer Tommy E. Scott whose life was taken from us in April 2005. The annual Police Unity Tour raises funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. On May 11-16, Honor Guard Officers Thomas Dye, Alicia Hernandez, William Hsu, Rafael Outley, Robert Pedregon, Cindy Colon and Sgt. Eddie Martinez represented Los Angeles Airport Police at National Police Week in Washington, D.C.

This event was in recognition of officers from the City of Los Angeles and officers throughout the country who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities.

Thank you to all who participated in the events pay tribute to our fallen heroes.
