Van Nuys Airport has long been an active community partner, focusing on promoting local businesses and spearheading educational programs. Previously honored by The Valley Economic Alliance and The Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber, VNY was proud to be recognized by the Mid Valley YMCA, earning the Philip “Flip” Smith Pillar of the Community Award for its extensive outreach program.
Diana Sanchez, VNY’s Public and Community Relations Director is a former board member of the YMCA and said that in addition to hosting the YMCA’s annual Health Fair, the airport is active in a wide array of outreach efforts in the community.
VNY is an active member of the Encino Chamber of Commerce, the Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce, the Valley Industry and Commerce Association, the Valley Economic Alliance, and the Greater Van Nuys Rotary Club.
VNY recognizes the importance of education and is dedicated to helping young people learn about the myriad of careers available in the aviation industry. The airport was recently honored by the Valley Economic Alliance for its extensive educational outreach efforts that include adoption of Gault Elementary School, hosting the Junior Achievement Job Shadow Day, and hosting Aviation Career Day in partnership with Congressman Cardenas and Councilwoman Nury Martinez.
VNY looks forward to its continued support of the Mid Valley YMCA as well as its many other community partners.
