Condor Squadron Hosts Easter Egg Hunt

On Easter Sunday, the Condor Squadron held its 42nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt attended by more than 100 local children. Sponsored by Van Nuys Airport, the event had children searching for more than 1,200 eggs and included airplane displays, a fire truck and, of course, the Easter Bunny!

The response was tremendous.

"My son Finn (age 3), my wife Suzette and I would like to thank you all most warmly for the wonderful hospitality you provided at the Egg Hunt," said Rory Johnston of Hollywood. "Finn was over the moon - airplanes! Easter Bunny! fire trucks! egg hunt! And with refreshments and toys, we can't think of a better way to spend Easter. We're already looking forward to next year!"

The Condor Squadron is a group of aviation enthusiasts dedicated to preserving the memory of those who have served our country over the years. One of their main activities is memorial flights in restored North American Aviation AT-6/SNJ trainers originally flown during World War II.

After the war ended the venerable old planes were often assigned to National Guard and other units for training purposes. In 1965 several members of the 146th Fighter Group formed the Condor Squadron as a search and rescue unit of the Civil Air Patrol.

Today, the Condor Squadron flies formation for parades, celebrations and memorials and participates in many other community services. For more information on the Condor Squadron, please click here.
