Member Don Schultz Retires
Don Schultz, a long-serving member of the VNY Citizens Advisory Council (CAC), has retired from the volunteer advisory committee after 31 years of dedicated service. On December 1, the Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) recognized Schultz for his dedication, and Airport Manager
Flora Margheritis presented Schultz with a certificate of commendation on behalf of Los Angeles World Airports and local elected officials during the CAC meeting on October 6.
Schultz said he was overwhelmed by this expression of gratitude. “It was an incredible honor. So many good things have come out of the CAC that I can’t take the credit. It has been a supreme pleasure working with our chair Elliott Sanders, who has made the CAC a credible and open forum for both
resident and tenant issues, as well as with Airport Manager Flora Margheritis, who has worked so hard on our ad hoc committees to address community noise concerns.”
A community activist, Schultz has also served on the Mid-Valley Community Police Council, San Fernando Valley Coalition on Gangs, Van Nuys Homeowners Association, San Fernando Valley Alcohol Policy Coalition and Mid-Valley YMCA, among other organizations.
Formed in 1985, the VNY CAC is an advisory committee that reviews issues affecting the operation of VNY and provides recommendations to the BOAC. Its 18 members are appointed by the BOAC, L.A. Mayor and neighboring City Council Offices. Public meetings are held
at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month in the FlyAway conference room located at 7610 Woodley Ave. For more information, call (818)442-6526 or email VNYCAC@lawa.org.
