Stephen Martin is Chief Operating Officer for Los Angeles World Airports, having been appointed to that position in January 2008. As COO, Martin is responsible for oversight over all LAWA’s activities involving Finance and Budget, Information Technology, Administration, Commercial Development, Operations and Maintenance, and Facilities and Environmental Planning.
Professional Experience Martin brings more than 30 years of airport and aviation leadership in both the public and private sectors to his new position.
Prior to coming to LAWA, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Airports Council International in Washington, DC.
He previously worked for 10 years as a consultant with Leigh Fisher Associates in San Francisco, specializing in finance and project development.
Martin also held the position of Director Financial Development in the Office of the Secretary at the United States Department of Transportation from 1993 to 1996.
Earlier in his career, Martin was with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) for 12 years, initially working at Massport’s Logan International Airport as an Assistant Director of Aviation. He then served six years as Director of Finance and Business Development for all of Massport’s lines of business.
Education Martin has a Master’s degree in Economics from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts.
