LAX TO KICK OFF FIRST RECRUITMENT SOCIAL FOR VIP VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
(Los Angeles, California – February 2, 2011) This Valentine’s Day, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will reach out to those with a love of travel or love of helping people to find out about its new Los Angeles International Airport Volunteer Information Professionals (VIP) program with a social on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at the Flight Path Learning Center, 6661 W. Imperial Highway from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The social will be the first of monthly mixers to recruit volunteers for the VIP program. The event will give attendees a chance to learn about the VIP Program, volunteer duties, and shifts. There will be free parking and light refreshments will be served.
VIP volunteers will be stationed at information booths in LAX terminals and will assist passengers with their travel needs during one four-hour shift per week. The VIP information booths will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
Volunteers will assist passengers by providing directions to various airport and community facilities, helping to find appropriate transportation and accommodations, meeting and greeting passengers, and providing sightseeing and hospitality resources in the Los Angeles area.
Some of the rewards of volunteering as a VIP include the opportunity to help people, free parking during the volunteer’s shift, free uniforms, an annual recognition event, and invitations to attend Los Angeles World Airports events, trainings, and workshops.
Applications are available at http://www.lawa.org/welcome_lax.aspx?id=3889 and can be submitted to: VIP Program, 1 World Way, Room 204, Los Angeles, CA 90045. Training is anticipated to take place April 2011.
