The Office of Operations runs the 24-hour a day uniform patrol services of the Airport Police Division at Los Angeles international, Van Nuys, Ontario, and Palmdale Regional Airport. With approximately 480 sworn personnel, this office is responsible the initial response to calls for service, preliminary criminal investigations, enforcement of laws and regulations on the airfield and in secured areas. Officers also interact daily with employees, airport tenants and travelers by providing information to enhance overall security and crime reduction. Under its span of control are the Communications Section, Gang Intelligence Team, Bicycle Unit, Video Network Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Crime Analysis Unit and the Airport Police Operations Center. In addition, this office enforces the LAWA Airport Security Plan and is a visible and actual deterrence to terrorist and criminal activity.
