Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports and Delta Air Lines, celebrated the local and minority businesses powering the latest dining and retail offerings at the new Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), including local brands Alfred, Fat Sal's, Homeboy, Native by Nyesha and Yakumi.

LAX RECEIVES FINAL CARS FOR AUTOMATED PEOPLE MOVER TRAIN
The final 4 Automated People Mover (APM) train cars arrived at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), bringing the total number on site to 44. The first cars arrived in summer 2022 and the remaining cars have since been steadily making the cross-country journey from the manufacturer in Pittsburgh, PA. The new cars will join the rest of the fleet in testing on the APM’s elevated guideway, as the design-build team at LAX Integrated Express Solutions (LINXS) continues progress toward the project completion date of December 8, 2025.

LAWA RECOGNIZES WINNERS OF 2023 LAX FLY QUIETER PROGRAM FOR EFFORTS TO REDUCE AIRCRAFT NOISE

Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) recognized nine airlines operating at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as part of the LAX Fly Quieter program at today's special meeting of the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners. LAX TRAIN EXPECTED TO BEGIN SERVICE JANUARY 2026

(Los Angeles) The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved an agreement that sets a construction completion date of December 8, 2025, for Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Automated People Mover (APM) train. The train will begin full operations in January 2026. It will be available to ticketed passengers, their guests and airport employees for free, and is expected to carry 30 million passengers a year, resulting in an estimated 42 million fewer vehicle miles annually.

Travel experts project nationwide travel volumes to rise 5% from the same period last year. LAX estimates over 2 million passengers will pass through its terminals from Thursday, June 27 to Monday, July 8. This sustained higher volume of passenger activity is expected to continue through Labor Day weekend.

LAWA'S CONTRACTING MODEL SETS INCLUSIVITY RECORDS
Los Angeles) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)’s latest Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC), representing nearly $1 billion in contracting value, received approval from Los Angeles City Council on April 26, 2024. The Council’s endorsement follows earlier consent from the City of Los Angeles’s Travel, Trade and Tourism Committee and LAWA’s Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC).
