The Gateways International Internship Program allows students from different countries around the world to work for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) in various Divisions at LAX, Van Nuys, and Ontario Airports as well as for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Air Traffic Controller Offices. International students are placed based on their career interest.
International students are able to gain valuable work experience in a real work environment. They will be able to network with perspective employers, in LAWA, and of other companies. International students are also eligible to apply for the paid internship program so long as they can make more than a six month commitment to work for LAWA.
International students must be obtain their J-1 Visa from the Association for International Practical Training (AIPT). We recommend that all students come through their educational institution's foreign exchange student program or a study abroad program, that will accommodate their stay in Los Angeles. International students who will be attending an educational institution in Los Angeles, California will need to obtain only an F-1 Visa and can later obtain their I-20 Form (work permit).
If you need to contact AIPT, please speak with Martha Quinlan. Martha's telephone number is (001) 415 889 9418 and her email is mquinlan@aipt.org. For more information please visit AIPT's website at www.aipt.org.
