Assistant Chief Brian Walker
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Police Assistant Chief Brian Walker, a 21-year veteran of the Airport Police Division, oversees the Office of Support Services at all three LAWA airports: Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International and Van Nuys. Chief Walker has direct responsibility and oversight of the Division's fiscal operations (120 million dollar plus operating budget and 10 million plus overtime budget); Human Resource Liaison Unit; Internal Affairs Unit; Training Unit; Backgrounds and Recruitment Unit; Firing Range; Crime Analysis Unit; Airport Police Intellingence and Information Center; Video Network Enforcement Unit; Communications; and Critical Technology Projects. In this capacity, he also serves as the Chief of Staff for the Chief of Police and Alternate Airport Security Coordinator.
Before his most recent appointment, he served as Acting Chief of Police for two years after commanding the Patrol Services Section, which is responsible for 24-hour police and emergency operations at LAWA. Walker served in increasingly responsible assignments through his career in patrol, bike detail, crime suppression, internal affairs, background investigations, and planning and development.
Chief Walker has received numerous departmental awards and commendations for incident command and leadership response during several high-profile incidents at LAX. Highlights include: 9/11, Operations Chief/Relief Incident Commander - Responsible for the deployment of all uniformed personnel at LAX, and liaison between federal/local law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders. Managed the Divisions Operations Center and chaired multi-agency intelligence and operations meetings; Unabomber Incident, Incident Commander; Democratic National Convention, Planning and Intelligence Chief.
Chief Walker is a graduate of Rio Hondo Police Academy and completed Police Officer Standards & Training (POST) Executive Development Course. He has attended Southern University and Tougaloo College and is currently continuing his education at the University of LaVerne in Organizational Leadership.
