The Office of Traffic and Security Operation overseas the line functions of the Traffic Control and Security Access Control Units at Los Angeles international, Van Nuys, and Ontario airport. With approximately 460 personnel, the section includes an Internal Affairs Team, Bike Detail Unit, Lost and Found Unit, Vehicle Impounds Unit and Training Coordination Unit. Tasked with the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles, the Traffic Control Unit also assists with perimeters control during emergency incidents. The Security Unit is charged with in enforcing federally mandated regulations regarding airfield access, as well as alarm response to restricted areas. In addition, they control access posts around the airport by conducting inspections of both personnel and vehicles requesting entry to restricted areas.
