As one of the nation's busiest airports, LAX is a vital gateway to and from Southern California and the world. It is also one of the region's most important economic engines. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the city department that owns and operates LAX, continually works to enhance safety, security and service at the airport. As part of this ongoing effort, LAWA has launched a series of capital improvement projects under the LAXpectations banner. These projects will improve airfield safety, facilitate more efficient baggage security screening, incorporate the latest information technology, and enhance passenger comfort and convenience.
