Los Angeles World Airports’ Commercial Development Group (CDG) is charged with stimulating and promotion economic development and business retention. CDG manages terminal and airfield real estate, cargo warehousing, concessions, ground transportation, parking and leasing at LAX, ONT, VNY and Palmdale Land Holdings. CDG is also in charge of economic development, feasibility, valuation and financial planning analyses.
Leasing and Business Development
CDG leases both “on-airfield” and “off-airfield” land owned by LAWA. The Leasing and Development group seeks tenants for current cargo, hangar and other facilities and works with developers to build new facilities. The group identifies prospective tenants and reviews their proposals and negotiates contracts. Occasionally this group acquires land for LAWA purposes.
Terminals Leasing and Concessions
The Terminals Business Management group is responsible for managing the leasing and concession programs at all 9 LAX and 2 ONT terminals. This includes nearly 200 retail, food, beverage, duty free and service concepts. The group handles leasing for all airline, airline support, and government space in the terminal buildings. The group also manages all concessions agreements and operations including duty free, food and beverage, retail and passenger service concepts at LAX and ONT. LAWA is redeveloping the concessions program at LAX to revitalize shops and restaurants. The new program has introduced new retail brand concepts to LAX for the first time, some of which are airport-related and others are local Los Angeles brands emphasizing the City of Los Angeles as a global mecca for fashion, food and style.
Landside Business Management
LAWA regulates the commercial transportation that enters the airport. The Landside Business Management Unit manages contracts with companies that directly or indirectly manage the courtesy shuttle, long distance bus (Flyaway), taxi, and rental car services. It also works with parking contractors that operate at LAWA’s airports.
Property Management groups are responsible for managing LAWA-owned buildings, land and improvements including cargo, hangar and support services. The group manages leases and works closely with tenants. LAX, a key transportation hub for a major economic region, is home to all the major airlines, alliances and cargo integrators. ONT is a UPS regional facility.
Real Estate Services
The Real Estate Services group manages contracts for real estate services such as title, escrow and property management.
